Welcome to Scripps Gerontology Center’s website.
Scripps Gerontology Center is a research institution dedicated to generating and disseminating multidisciplinary aging related knowledge. The Scripps Gerontology Center began in 1922 with an endowment from E.W. Scripps as the Scripps Foundation for Research in Population Problems. The center was renamed the Scripps Gerontology Center in the 1970s when the research focus turned to population aging. Our mission is to do work that makes a positive difference in the lives of aging individuals, their families and communities, and to meet the needs of aging societies. We accomplish this mission through research, education, and service.
