Title: Distance Learning: Improving Care in Nursing Homes
Principal Investigator: R.A. Applebaum, A. Rahman
Other team members: Schnelle
Short Description: This project will administer and evaluate two distance learning courses for nursing home providers—one on improving incontinence management, the other on improving mealtime assistance. In a series of six monthly teleconferences led by a nationally recognized expert in each topic, nursing home staff in each course will receive step-by-step instructions for implementing best practices in their facilities as well as between-session coaching calls, to encourage them apply what they have learned. Online training materials and all the assessment forms needed to implement new care practices are also provided. The courses are based on principles of active learning, which foster knowledge attainment, application, and evaluation.
