FAQ

What are the occupancy rates of Ohio nursing homes?

Between 1992 and 2001 there was a fairly steady drop in nursing home occupancy rates statewide. In 1992, Ohio nursing homes had an occupancy rate of just under 92%, and by 2001 occupancy rates had dropped to 83.2%.

The decline in occupancy rates in Ohio is consistent with national trends. The expansion of in-home services, the development of alternative residential options such as assisted living, and the increased use of short-term care in nursing homes all appear to contribute to reduced occupancy rates.
